June 1, 2018 – July 30, 2018. Second Call for Proposals (CFP). The Second Call for Proposals (CFP) is open for applicants who initially applied to the second Call for Expressions of Interest. Of the initial 16 applications for the EOI, 11 were selected to apply to the CFP stage.
March 1, 2018. The 2018 European Geothermal Innovation Prize is awarded to the Geothermal Development Fund for Latin America (GDF), the first multi-donor climate initiative to provide risk mitigation for surface surveys and confirmatory drilling during the exploration phase of geothermal projects in Latin America . December 1, 2017 – January 31, 2018. Second Call for Expressions of Interest (EOI). The second round of the GDF opens with a call for expression of interest (EOI). Sixteen applications are received, representing 7 of the 10 eligible countries.
May 15, 2017 – July 24, 2017. First Call for Proposals (CFP). The Call for Proposals (CFP) is open for applicants who initially applied to the EOI. 8 projects are selected for the CFP from the 25 EOI applications. For more information, click here.
January 15 – February 28, 2017. First Call for Expression of Interest (EOI). The first round of the GDF opens with Expression of Interest (EOI). 25 applications are received, representing 9 of the 10 eligible countries.
October 23 – 26, 2016. An introductory GDF pre-application information workshop is held at the GEA Geothermal Energy Expo 2016 in Sacramento, California.
April 26, 2016. KfW introduces the GDF at the World Bank/ESMAP GGDP roundtable in Reykjavik, Iceland. KfW also announces and introduces IDA Fund Managers, LLC (IDA) as the selected fund manager for the Fund. KfW appoints the key decision-makers within IDA: Mr. Alan Beard (Fund Manager), Dr. Warren T. Dewhurst (Geothermal Project Manager) and Mr. Chis McCormick (Senior Investment Officer).
December 8, 2014. KfW Development Bank organizes a side event at UNFCCC COP20 to launch the Geothermal Development Fund (GDF).
